Powerboats

The Waikiki Yacht Club is an ideal environment for power boaters. Located immediately outside of the Ala Wai boat harbor lies the picturesque Waikiki coastline and ultimate fishing grounds.

The Club currently has a small boat hoist capable of lifting 4,000 pounds and a stationary A-frame lift. To use the lift, contact our Marine Center Chair at [email protected]

Power boaters can participate in a variety of activities sponsored or hosted by the WYC. These include fishing tournaments, cruises, and volunteer support for long-distance outrigger canoe paddling races and sailing regattas.

Support Boats

The Club is always in search of small power boats to serve as committee boats during regattas.

Volunteers are also needed to support the world-class TranSpac Yacht Race. The Waikiki Yacht Club shares rotating duty with the Hawaii Yacht Club and Kaneohe Yacht Club to host sailors arriving from California. Power boats are needed to ferry judges for onboard safety inspections and to greet incoming vessels and guide them to the Club.

The WYC Paddling Team also needs escort boats to accompany the outrigger canoe paddling teams across long distances and to accommodate the paddling crew changes during the race. Distance canoe races are held annually from August to early October.
